Antonio Valentin
MD, PhD
Dr Valentin received his medical degree and his PhD from Universidad Complutense, Madrid, Spain. He is widely published and internationally recognized in the field of pre-surgical epilepsy evaluation and in his work on invasive and deep brain stimulation neurophysiology. He has particular expertise in intraoperative EEG recordings and functional electrical stimulation during operations for epilepsy. In addition he is involved in the development of therapeutic neuromodulation techniques, including intracranial stimulation. He has more than 50 publications in peer reviewed international journals with emphasis on neuromodulation in epilepsy.
Dr Valentin runs active telemetry assessment at the King’s Hospital, where he has developed the technique of single pulse electrical stimulation (SPES) and analysis of the acquired data in patients with intracranial electrodes for epilepsy. He is also actively involved in regular EEG recording and stimulation during implantation of deep brain stimulation (DBS) for patients.
